🧵 How to Thread the JUKI TL-2010Q Sewing Machine ~ Step-by-Step Instructions
If you’re wondering how to thread the JUKI TL-2010Q sewing machine, follow this easy, step-by-step guide to get your machine ready for perfect stitching. This threading tutorial is ideal for beginners or anyone who needs a quick refresher after some time away from sewing.
⚠️ Before You Begin:
Always turn OFF the power switch on your JUKI TL-2010Q before threading the machine for safety.
✅ Step 1: Raise the Thread Guide Rod
- Extend the thread guide rod fully upward.
- Turn it slightly until the positioning latch engages securely.
- Pull the thread from your spool on the appropriate pin:
- Use the right pin for a large spool (thread cone).
- Use the left pin for a standard-sized spool.
✅ Step 2: Raise the Presser Foot Lever
Lift the presser foot lever to open the tension discs.
This is crucial, it allows the thread to properly enter the tension mechanism.
✅ Step 3: Thread the Three-Hole Thread Guide
- Begin threading down through the first hole.
- Skip the middle hole (leave it empty).
- Thread up through the third hole.
➡️ The thread should now be heading downward, aligned to go into the tension discs.
✅ Step 4: Thread the Upper Tension Discs
- Press the thread into the upper (smaller) tension discs until it clicks into place.
- Continue pulling the thread downward toward the lower tension area.
- Guide the thread:
- From right to left around the larger tension discs.
- Make sure to catch the thread take-up spring, this is essential for maintaining correct stitch tension.
✅ Step 5: Follow the Threading Diagram (Steps 5–8)
Follow the threading diagram printed on your machine, and make sure to:
- Thread under the pressure bar thread guide (#5).
- Continue through guides #6, #7, and #8 in exact order.
- Always follow the numbered threading sequence to avoid skipped stitches or tension issues.
✅ Step 6: Thread the Needle Area Guides and Needle
- Pass the thread through guides #9 and #10.
- Hook the thread behind the lower needle bracket.
- Thread the needle from left to right manually.
💡 Want to use the built-in needle threader instead?

✅ Step 7: Draw Up the Bobbin Thread
- Hold the needle thread tail with your left hand.
- Press the needle up/down button twice, or rotate the handwheel toward you to complete one full needle cycle.
- The bobbin thread will be pulled up through the needle plate.
- Pull both the needle and bobbin threads a few inches toward the back of the machine.
- Place your fabric under the presser foot, lower it, and get ready to sew!
🎉 You’re Ready to Sew!
Now that your JUKI TL-2010Q sewing machine is threaded correctly, you’re all set to start your next project with confidence. Proper threading ensures clean, even stitches and prevents unnecessary thread breaks or tension problems.
